Green Meadows School

"I would like to give the biggest thumbs up and a great standing ovation to S, H and all TAs for the fantastic support and teaching skills with my son 'J'. Thank you all so very much, ❤❤❤"
Parent / Carer Feedback, December 2020
At Green Meadows School we are a dedicated team of highly skilled teaching and learning support staff. Many of our learners have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Conditions, but this is by no means all of our learners and we have a wide range of differing needs at our Primary and Secondary sites. Class sizes vary between 6 to 12 learners. There is a dedicated class team that provides the learning and care needs for individual pupils.
Depending on which site your child attends the school day begins and ends at the following times;
Green Meadows Primary - 9.00am to 3.00pm Green Meadows Secondary - 9.15am to 3.15pm
The majority of our learners arrive on school transport provided by Leeds City Council. However, some learners arrive by taxi, some are brought by their parents, and where possible we encourage and facilitate Post-16 learners to travel independently.
Green Meadows Primary School
Pupils in the primary school are allocated a class based on age and need. Their class teacher delivers a primary model ie they teach a broad range of subjects as in most mainstream schools. This is supplemented by specialist teachers for some subjects such as Food, Art and Music.
Green Meadows Secondary School
As in the primary school, pupils at Green Meadows Secondary School are in classes that reflect a combination of their age and key stage as well as their area of need. At the core of our learning is English / Literacy, Mathematics / Numeracy, Science, and PSHE - which all of our pupils will study. The pupils benefit from specialist teachers for these key areas of the curriculum. As learners progress through the school appropriate qualifications and life skill development becomes key.
At key times in the term themes and projects are developed using a whole school collaborative approach where classes are joined together so that pupils will benefit from working with a range of other students and staff members.
The curriculum is extended by the specialist facilities we have on offer, for example:
- Food Technology room
- Art Room
- Sensory Room
- Rebound Therapy
- Hydrotherapy pool
- Large outdoor learning space with dedicated Wildlife Garden
