Primary Partnerships

The NWSILC has two small partnership provisions with Rawdon St Peter's and Brudenell Primary Schools. Our pupils at both sites are taught in specialist provision for the morning with pupil's joining thier mainstream peers classes for the afternoon's learning. All this is supported by the NWSILC Teaching and support staff. Due to th nature of these provisions placements are limited and careful consideration is given to the Education Health and Care Plan to ensure that the identified outcomes can be accomodated with these settings.

Rawdon St Peter's

The 'Orchard' class is a purpose built Base for pupils on the role of the North West SILC who have a variety of severe learning difficulties.

Each pupil is assigned an age appropriate mainstream class. Literacy and Numeracy are taught within the Base but we aim to provide support so that the pupils can participate in all the other mainstream lessons.

The class team also work closely to support pupils with similar difficulties who are on the roll of Rawdon St Peters. This successful partnership hinges on the close co-operation and mutual understanding among all staff.

The governors and staff at Brudenell have a strong commitment to inclusion and creating an inclusive school ethos. The partnership that the North West Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC) has with them consistantly provides opportunities to develop our pupils alongside thier mainstream peers. NWSILC pupils and staff help develop practice and, challenge the thinking about what is possible when including children with complex learning difficulties in a mainstream classroom.
